01What Chinese visa will we need?
The final visa category and application timing must be confirmed against the operator’s written instructions and the current requirements for each traveller’s passport. The Tibet Travel Permit is separate and is arranged through the authorised operator; it is not a substitute for a valid Chinese visa.
02What happens if a rider fails the temporary licence test?
A rider who does not obtain the temporary Chinese motorcycle licence cannot legally continue as a rider. We are asking the operator to confirm the retest process and whether a passenger-van place can be offered. Do not assume a refund or alternative place until this is confirmed in writing.
03Who has to sit the licence test?
The operator has advised that riders over 60 complete a short English-language test. Riders must arrive in time for the licensing appointment while the office is open; the current planning sequence places this on Thursday 9 September.
04Can partners join without riding?
Yes. Non-riding partners travel in a separate chauffeured van, follow the same overall route and share the group’s hotels and planned experiences. They are passengers, not pillions.
05How does the single-room supplement work?
A single-room supplement should apply only where a traveller uses a room alone. Couples sharing a room should be priced on the agreed shared-room basis. The exact supplement and the operator’s full accommodation breakdown remain under review.
06Are flights included?
No. International flights, the journey to Kunming and the return journey from Lhasa are arranged separately. Do not book non-refundable travel until the operating dates and arrival sequence are confirmed.
07What motorcycle will I ride?
The currently proposed platforms are the CFMoto 450MT, Kove 525X or a similar middleweight adventure motorcycle. Exact allocation, condition, tyres, luggage and damage terms must be confirmed before payment.
08What insurance is required?
Each traveller needs suitable travel and medical insurance. Riders must specifically confirm cover for the motorcycle engine capacity, riding in China and Tibet, high altitude, emergency treatment and evacuation. A standard policy may not cover all of these.
09How will luggage be carried?
The guide-driven support vehicle is intended to carry rider luggage and operational equipment. Riders should keep only daily essentials on the motorcycle. Passenger luggage capacity will depend on the final van size and group numbers.
10Where will confirmed changes appear?
The website will be the shared planning reference. Important notices may also be posted in WhatsApp, but the relevant website page will be updated when dates, prices or arrangements are confirmed.
